Commercial Solar Incentives
See how much your business will save
Incentives and rebates can significantly reduce your upfront costs and maximize your long-term savings.
Connecticut
Connecticut business owners with solar systems are paid for their contribution. You’re given a Solar Renewable Energy Credit for every 1,000kWh or 1 Megawatt your system produces, which you can cash in. You’re getting paid for going solar!
New York
New York’s Megawatt Block Incentive, part of the NY-Sun Initiative, is a dollars-per-watt rebate available to commercial properties with solar systems. Depending on the size of your system, you could get paid as much as $1 per watt!
Massachusetts
Massachusetts business owners can apply for the Modified Accelerated Cost Recovery System, which allows them to depreciate their system over a five-year period. Electric companies pay SMART program members 29 to 31 cents per kilowatt-hour. Net metering allows system owners to receive credit toward their utility bills for excess energy produced.
Rhode Island
Rhode Island provides property tax and sales tax exemptions for manufacturers’ solar systems. Solarize Rhode Island has developed a competitive tiered pricing system that increases savings for residents and businesses who sign contracts to go solar. Business owners can also apply for the Commercial-Scale Funding Program of the Renewable Energy Fund and receive grant money toward your system.
New Hampshire
New Hampshire’s Commercial and Industrial Solar Incentive pays 20 cents per watt for new solar systems to cover 25% of the system cost or up to $10,000. The Renewable Energy Property Tax Exemption allows New Hampshire towns and cities to offer a tax exemption for system installs.
New Jersey
The new Successor Solar Incentive program, officially dubbed “SuSI,” replaced NJ’s popular solar renewable energy credit market. The SuSI program opened for new projects on August 28, 2021. The program provides one NJ Solar Renewable Energy Certificate-II (NJ SREC–II) for every megawatt-hour (MWh) of solar electricity produced ($100/MWh for 15 years). An additional $20/MWh adder is being provided for public entities – such as school districts, municipalities, and public colleges and universities.
