New Yorkers, ditch your power company

New York has some of the strongest solar incentives in the country.

New York also has some of the highest electricity rates, and they keep climbing. Solar locks in your cost, puts you back in charge, and the state’s incentives and net metering make now a smart time to make the switch.

$5,000 tax credit

New York’s 25% solar tax credit, whether you buy or lease.

5โ€“9 yrs to pay off

Most New York solar systems pay for themselves in well under a decade.

Excellent experience

From the first meeting with the sales team through the installation process, it was a wonderful experience. The sales team was very informative and had patience to explain the complete process. The installation team, from roofing through electrical, was knowledgeable, helpful, and did an amazing job. Fully recommend for anyone looking for a solar solution.

New York Solar Incentives

New York still pays you to go solar.

New York has some of the strongest solar incentives in the country, and they didn’t change when the federal credit ended. Here’s what you can stack. We’ll confirm exactly what you qualify for.

  • A 25% New York State tax credit, up to $5,000, whether you buy or lease.
  • Energy efficiency upgrades based on income
  • Upfront battery rebates average over $3,000
  • A 15-year property tax exemption on the value solar adds to your home.

Why Venture Home?

The New York solar installer that’ll still be here.

More than 200 solar companies shut down in the last two years. We’re still standing, with the same in-house team that’s put solar on 15,000 roofs. We pull the permits, do the install, and pick up the phone in year five, not just year one.

  • In-house W-2 crews, start to finish. The team that sells you the system is the one that installs and services it. No subcontractors.
  • 10+ years in business. We’ve been doing this since before half the industry existed, and we’ll be here for life.
  • Whole-home systems. Panels, battery, EV charging, and a smart panel, designed to work as one.
  • We handle everything. Incentives, permits, utility coordination, and install, all under one roof.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is the best solar company in New York?

Venture Home Solar is one of New York’s top-rated solar companies, with a 4.8 rating across 3,454 reviews and more than 10 years installing across the state. We run in-house W-2 crews from the first roof assessment through service, so the same team that sells you the system is the one that installs and stands behind it.

How much do solar panels cost in New York?

Most New York home solar systems run roughly $15,000 to $25,000 before incentives, depending on your roof and how much power you use. After the 25% state tax credit, NY-Sun rebates, and the sales tax exemption, the net cost drops well below that. Most homeowners start at $0 down, and we’ll give you the real number for your roof before you commit.

Are solar panels worth it in New York?

For most New York homeowners, yes. The state has some of the highest electricity rates in the country and some of the strongest solar incentives, so a typical system pays for itself in about 5 to 9 years and keeps saving for decades after. High rates are exactly what makes New York one of the best states in the country for solar.

Is the federal solar tax credit still available in 2026?

The 30% federal tax credit for homeowners who buy their system ended on December 31, 2025. New York’s own incentives did not change, including the 25% state tax credit up to $5,000, NY-Sun rebates, net metering, and the sales and property tax exemptions, so going solar in New York still makes strong financial sense. The federal credit also still applies on leased systems, where we claim it and pass the savings to you through lower payments.

What solar incentives does New York offer?

New York stacks several. A 25% state income tax credit up to $5,000 (whether you buy or lease), NY-Sun rebates applied right off your install cost, no state or local sales tax on solar equipment, a 15-year property tax exemption on the value solar adds to your home, and net metering credits for the power you send back to the grid. We confirm exactly what you qualify for before you sign anything.

How does net metering work in New York?

When your panels make more power than your home uses, that extra electricity goes back to the grid and your utility credits your account. You draw on those credits at night and in winter, which keeps your bills low year-round. New York is moving some customers to a newer system called VDER, or the Value Stack, and we’ll model both so you see which one works better for your home.

What areas of New York do you serve?

We install solar across New York State, with offices in Hicksville and Brooklyn that put crews close to most of the state’s homeowners. Our service area covers:

  • All five NYC boroughs: Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Staten Island
  • Long Island: Nassau and Suffolk counties, including Hempstead, Huntington, Babylon, Islip, Brookhaven, and the North and South Shore towns
  • Westchester and the Lower Hudson Valley: Yonkers, New Rochelle, White Plains, Mount Vernon, and Rockland County
  • The Mid-Hudson Valley: Poughkeepsie, Newburgh, Kingston, and the surrounding Orange, Dutchess, and Ulster county towns
  • The Capital Region: Albany, Schenectady, Troy, and Saratoga Springs

We coordinate with every major New York utility, including Con Edison, PSEG Long Island, National Grid, Orange & Rockland, and Central Hudson, so the permitting and interconnection get handled no matter where you are.

If you don’t see your town on the list, it’s worth asking. The answer is almost always yes.
